Grand View!

This is a view of the Grand Prismatic Spring from the hillside above. This pool is located in the Midway Geyser basin in Yellowstone National Park. The view from the board walk really does not allow you to see the wonderful colour of this the largest spring in the park. If you go about a mile south of the Midway parking lot you come to the parking lot for the hike to Fairy Falls. You walk about a mile down the road and then scramble up the hill for a fantastic view of the spring. There is an overlook about 50 ft. up which is OK and easy to get to. If you don’t mind scrambling up a steeper incline, keep going to the top of the hill to get this view.

Some day I’d like to be one of the lucky few to photograph this feature from the air which provides the most spectacular view.

I changed my mind…

Moved the firmware over to the MacAfter yesterdays melodrama, I bit the bullet and when on a mystery tour down the rabbit hole. And, I thought instead of rambling on about it, like yesterday, I would just put a few lines of text below some pictures, so that’s exactly what I’m going to do!

As you can see from the above, I shifted the firmware over to the Mac and then worked on backing up my old Applications and the like (after the break).

A dilemma…

Firstly, sorry for posting before even sorting this place out, the default theme still makes me cringe…

Now then… I have, sat around doing nothing, some applications from the iTunes App Store that I obviously can’t use on my iPod Touch until I upgrade to the latest firmware version (Pictured above, total cost of £0, btw.)

This is where the dilemma begins.

Upgrading means I lose, in no specific order, MobileScrobbler, Converter, SummerBoard, Pool, THTouch, iSolitaire. I’m sure that if I looked around the App Store a little I could find replacements for the three games, maybe even Converter too. MobileScrobbler however, is in the process of being ported, but at what cost? The cost of background scrobbling. A hefty price to pay considering that’s the main reason I have MobileScrobbler in the first place. Something I won’t find in the App Store is the abilty to SSH into the iPod.

However, it can Scrobble tracks played from the Last.fm site.

Next up, we have the news that the iPhone Dev Team have again, as with all previous 2.0 builds, jailbroken that arse. Why is this a problem you ask? Well… If I can get my mitts on that I may be able to run some of my applications. But more importantly, when they release it, they also may be a possbility (Until I hear otherwise) that MobileScrobbler could come back with a App Store version, as well as a jailbroken version that features background scrobbling.

What should I do? Mmm.. Well, as the Last.fm client now supports iPhone and iPod Touch scrobbling, which it did not when I first got my iPod, it makes sense to update. But, for another twist in the tail, I do not have that installed on my Mac as I use Coversutra to Scrobble my track plays. Also, doing scrobbles manually would mean that some plays wouldn’t get updated for several months at a time, and I’d no doubt forget to even do it.

Or am I just being stupid and over annalytical of the problem? Probably.
