Unobtrusive advertising

Is this even possible? I have no idea, but I’m going to go ahead and give it a go anyway. You’ll notice over to the right there is four 16×16px images followed by a little bit of text. These are indeed adverts, which should also not be blocked by default when the user uses ad-blocking software.

The aim of these is simple, no silly-large pictures or moving .gif’s or flash crap. Just honest, plain and simple favicon and a site name.

So, what do you think? Do these ads bother you? Let me know in a comment or something!

These ads are great :) I wish everyone would understand the importance of unobtrusive advertising… even if it’s not as minimalistic as you have here. Simply incorporating ads into a design (rather than throwing it anywhere) helps make the site look a lot more professional. A great example of this is Webmonkey’s website. Their flash ad (I hate flash, but they incorporate it well) blends in with their header image perfectly when the ad itself has a black background. Sadly, not all of the ads are designed in this fashion for Webmonkey, so you have to refresh a few times to find one. The ad that caught my attention the most was created by HP (although a Becks ad looked great as well).

Thanks for your kind words Brandon. :)
